Losing Weight at 500 Pounds - Chris's Success Story

An ex-marathon runner who ballooned to 500 pounds has vowed to get his trainers back on 40 years after his first race. Chris Larkin, 63, was just 23 when he ran his first marathon in 1982 - when he weighed a healthy 185 pounds. But after falling into a routine of fast food dinners and little exercise, Chris piled on the pounds and at his heaviest he tipped the scales at just under 560 pounds.

Now the dad-of-two has embarked on a weight loss mission and shed a whopping 130 pounds And he plans to run The Great Welsh marathon in 2022.

He said: "It creeps up on you. By the mid-90s, I was getting heavier and heavier. I was working as a sales rep and basically eating out of a petrol station all the time. I just didn't make time to eat properly. The scary thing is you can easily put on a pound over a month without really noticing.

Chris met his wife, Karen, online. She has endlessly supported his transformation and has lost 60 pounds herself in the Keto diet.  .Chris had previously tried every diet including Slimming World, Weight Watchers, low carb and high-fat, but nothing seemed to work until his wife signed up for him in Keto Diet. He has been swimming regularly, exercising at the gym and has switched to a Keto until now.

He said: "I can love myself now despite still being morbidly obese because I’m doing something about it. The guy I was way back in 2016 - I don’t hate him - that guy decided to change his life - forever."
